This story seems to be making the claim that Schwarzenegger would sign a bill granting marriage to same-sex couples. Can this be true?

Legislation has been introduced by Assemblyman Mark Leno (D-San Francisco) to make marriage licenses available to same-sex couples throughout the state. The bill is tied up in committee and is unlikely to proceed before this fall's election. Nevertheless, Knight concedes he doesn't have much of a chance to stop Leno's bill if Democrats get behind it. Even the governor appears ready to sign it if bill is enacted.
